Career Institute North

Dallas, TX

Fall 2023

In 2019, a powerful tornado destroyed Walnut Hill Elementary in Dallas, Texas, leaving the beloved building unusable. Instead of starting from scratch, Dallas ISD transformed the facility into Career Institute North, while preserving the character of the historic school.  CI North opened in 2023 as a state-of-the-art facility that serves students from five nearby high schools, offering 16 in-demand career pathways.

The scope included selective demolition, a complete renovation of the building, and 110,000 square feet of new construction. The institute's programs span from aviation, automotive technology, public safety, healthcare, robotics, cybersecurity, software development, and a full range of construction and building trades.
